BEACH HOTEL - MATEMWE BUNGALOWS:

Matemwe Bungalows is perched on a coral rock, surrounded by stunning beaches and warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It lies opposite the Mnemba Atoll which offers spectacular diving and snorkelling. With only 12 suites, it is small and intimate.

Description Matemwe Bungalows has a stunning setting, on low coral cliffs at the end of one the best beaches in Zanzibar. This laid-back, friendly lodge has a relaxed, unpretentious feel and comprises 12 thatched bungalow suites all overlooking the Indian Ocean. Outsized bathtubs, private verandas (all with a hammock) and warm sea breezes add to the chilled out atmosphere.

Accommodation The lodge consists of 12 beautiful bungalows, built from local materials and surrounded by lush garden. Each suite has a private veranda with a hammock and couch, overlooking the Indian Ocean. The bathroom is large and has a deep bathtub and walk-in shower. All rooms are equipped with a large mosquito net.

Matemwe Suites The five Matamwe bungalow suites have one double bed and an additional single bed under the stairs. There is also a cot for young children. These bungalows are ideal for couples and families alike. They are en-suite and have a private verandah with sea views.

Standard Room Then there are seventeen standard rooms at the guesthouse, all of which are en suite. Seven of these are on the front row and are set back a little from the beach for privacy. The other 10 rooms are further back from the beach and offer a glimpse of the sea and a cool breeze though the night.

Asali Suite Ideal honeymoon suite with one double bed and separated from the main lodge for privacy. It has its own plunge pool and two dedicated staff to cater to your every need.

Childcare Although there are not specific childcare facilities, children are most welcome to come and stay at Matemwe Bungalows. Menus and meal times can easily be tailored to suit the younger guests. Babysitting can also be arranged for those that require it.

Facilities Matemwe has a multi-level inviting swimming pool surrounded with comfortable lounge chairs overlooking the ocean, providing the perfect setting to relax with a good book. Tempting freshly mixed cocktails are served at the poolside bar.

Activities Local snorkeling and diving sites are suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to experienced divers. Guests can snorkel straight from the beach or during reef walks and kayaks are available to explore the crystal clear sea.
