SOUTHERN SAFARI CIRCUIT

The national parks and game reserves of Southern safari circuit are for sure treasures of Tanzania natural heritage. These parks have large concentration of wildlife. The wildlife is indeed wild, each park tends to hold its own special selection of rare sightings, maybe a pack of wild dog lazing under a shady tree, or sable and roan antelope caught out in the open as they come to drink, not forgetting a multitude of colourful birdlife.

A safari to the south will leave you refreshed and ready for the next part of your African Experience. The Southern Circuit includes some of the less visited, remote and remarkable sights in Tanzania. Because it is less well known than the Northern Circuit it has fewer tourists, these include Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park,Sadaani National Park, Selous Game Reserve and Udzungwa Mountains National Park.

The parks of the southern safari circuit can be visited independently or as a package which can combine two or three parks at a time. Distances between parks are greater in the south meaning that flying is often the best option. Mikumi and Saadani National Parks are both best destinations if you have few days for safaris, as both are easily accessible from Dar-es-Salaam. Two to three days would be fine for the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park if you fly from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam. If you have more days you can combine Selous and Ruaha. More so, for safari and hiking best option could be Mikumi and Udzungwa Mountains.
